WD2000: Hang or IPF While Scrolling Using HP DeskJet 820 Printer Driver

SYMPTOMS

When you scroll through a document and the default printer is using the Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 820 printer driver version 8.0 or 8.2, your computer may stop responding (hang) or the following error message may appear.

An error has occurred in your program. To keep working anyway, click ignore and save your work in a new file. To quit this program, click Close. You will lose information you entered since your last save.

Details reports the following:
WINWORD caused a general protection fault in module HPFDJC04.DRV

NOTE: The Ignore option in the warning dialog box is ineffective, and you are unable to further access your document.


RESOLUTION

Use an updated version of the printer driver. Hewlett-Packard has updated drivers available at its Web site:
