WD2000: Known Size and Positioning Problems with Labels

SYMPTOMS

This article provides a quick reference to the known label size and positioning problems of the laser, ink jet, and dot matrix label product sizes supplied in Microsoft Word 2000.


WORKAROUND

Label size and positioning problems may be printer (printer driver) specific or the result of incorrect label dimensions. However, changing the dimensions of the label may allow the label type to print correctly on your particular printer.

The following is a list of known label size and positioning problems with the label information as supplied in Microsoft Word 2000.

APLI

APLI 1283, 3052, 3055

When you print to the APLI 1283, APLI 3052, or APLI 3055 label, text may be clipped (cut off) by the label's right edge.

To work around this problem, change the label dimensions appropriate for the label you are using.

AVERY

Some New to Word 2000 AVERY Labels

When you set up a new label sheet in Word, the text on screen is centered vertically as expected; however, when you print the label sheet, text may not print vertically centered. The text may print above the center point of the label.

Avery 3112

When you print to the Avery 3112 label, text may print outside of the left edge of the label.

Avery 5293

When you print to the Avery 5293 label, text may print too high and be cut off by the top edge of the label and may print too far left and be cut off by the left edge of the label.

Avery 5661

When you print to the Avery 5661 label, text may print too low on the labels, starting with the second sheet of labels in your print job.

Avery 8166, 8166-CB

When you print to the Avery 8166 label, text may print too low. To work around this problem, set Word to use the Avery 8166-CB label.

When you print to the Avery 8166-CB label, text may print into the color bar of the label. To work around this problem, set Word to use the Avery 8166 label.

Avery 8250

When you print to the Avery 8250 label, text may print too high and be cut off by the top edge of the label. The text may initially print correctly but may eventually shift upward and print above the top edge of the label.

Avery J8656

When you print to the Avery J8656 label, text may consistently print outside of the label edges.

Avery L7653

When you print to the Avery L7653 label, text may print too low on the label.

To work around these problems, change the label dimensions appropriate for the label you are using.

HERMA

Herma 4284, 5070, 8839, 8852

When you print to the Herma 4284, 5070, 8839, or 8852 labels, text may print outside of the edges of the label.

To work around this problem, change the label dimensions appropriate for the label you are using.

PIMACO

Pimaco A4348, A4349, A4350, A4351, A4354, A4355, A4356, A4360, A4361, A4362, A4363, A4364, A4365, A4366, A4367, A4368

When you print to these Pimaco A4 labels, text may print too high and print outside the edge of the label.


Pimaco 0087, 5580-A, 5580-M, 5580-V, 6080, 6081, 6082, 6083, 6084, 6087, 6089, 6180, 6181, 6182, 6183, 6187, 6280, 6281, 6282, 6283, 6287, 8098, 8099-L

When you print to these Pimaco Letter labels, the text may not be aligned vertically centered and may print toward the bottom of the label.
