WD2000: Recorded Macro Uses Caption Label String Instead of Constant

ID: Q209961

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you record a macro to insert a caption (on the Insert menu, click Caption), the Label argument is recorded as a string instead of the predefined constant.

For example, if you record inserting a caption whose Label type is Figure, the following Visual Basic for Applications command is recorded:

Selection.InsertCaption Label:="Figure", TitleAutoText:="InsertCaption1", _
   Title:="", Position:=wdCaptionPositionBelow

Because this string value may be incompatible with a foreign language version of Word, the correct syntax is to use the predefined constant, as in the following example:

Selection.InsertCaption Label:=wdCaptionFigure, TitleAutoText:="InsertCaption1", _
   Title:="", Position:=wdCaptionPositionBelow
