WD2000: Mail Merge Includes Only Contacts Containing E-mail Addresses

The information in this article applies to:


SYMPTOMS

When you use the address book as a data source in a Word mail merge, only contacts that contain an e-mail address are merged.

NOTE: If a contact does not contain an e-mail address, the contact is ignored and is not merged.


CAUSE

When you selected the address book to use, you may have selected Personal Address Book (PAB) instead of Outlook Address Book (OAB).


RESOLUTION

To correct this problem, do the following steps:

  1. Open your Word mail merge main document.


  2. On the Tools menu, click Mail Merge.


  3. In the Mail Merge Helper, click Get Data and then click Use Address Book.


  4. In the Use Address Book dialog box, select Outlook Address Book and then click OK.


  5. Continue the mail merge as usual.
