WD2000: Some Open/SaveAs Shortcut Keys Changed

ID: Q211890

SYMPTOMS

When you use shortcut keys (or a SendKeys command in a macro) to navigate in the Open (on the File menu, click Open) or SaveAs (on the File menu, click SaveAs) dialog box , a shortcut key (or SendKeys command) that you used in an earlier version of Word may not activate the command button that you want or may not function at all.

CAUSE

All of the Open (SaveAs) command button shortcut keys have been reassigned to different shortcut keys than in earlier versions of Word. This is the result of the different view command buttons being incorporated into a single command button; also, several command buttons (for example, Look in Favorites and Add to Favorites) have been removed and several new command buttons (for example, Previous Folder and Delete) have been added.

MORE INFORMATION

The following table lists the command buttons available in the Open (and SaveAs) dialog box, along with their respective shortcut keys and equivalent SendKeys command:

Command Button Shortcut Key SendKeys Command
Previous Folder ALT+1 SendKeys "%1"
Up One Level ALT+2 SendKeys "%2"
Search The Web ALT+3 SendKeys "%3"
Delete Item ALT+4 SendKeys "%4"
Create New Folder ALT+5 SendKeys "%5"
Views ALT+6 SendKeys "%6"
Tools ALT+7 SendKeys "%7"
NOTE: The remaining shortcut keys for the Open (and SaveAs) dialog box remain unchanged.
