WD97: Form Fields Not Visible When Pasted As Word Document Object

SYMPTOMS

When you copy all or part of a Word document that contains form fields and paste it into a new Word document as a Word document object, some of the form fields are not visible.


RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.

Steps to Reproduce the Problem:

  1. Start Word and open a new blank document.


  2. Insert a table with one row and four columns.


  3. Enter text in columns 1 and 3.


  4. On the View menu, click Toolbars and select the Forms toolbar.


  5. Insert a check box in column 2.


  6. Insert a drop-down list in column 4.


  7. Click Edit and then Select All.


  8. Click Edit and then click Copy.


  9. Open a new Word document.


  10. Click Edit and then click Paste Special. Select Microsoft Word Document Object and click the OK button.

    Result: Only the text in column 1 and the field in column two show up.

    Expect: All text and fields show.
