CG5: How to Uninstall Clip Gallery 5.0

SUMMARY

During troubleshooting, it is sometimes necessary to remove and reinstall Clip Gallery 5.0 in order to fix problems. You also need to remove Clip Gallery 5.0 if you want to reinstall an earlier version of Clip Gallery. To remove and reinstall Clip Gallery 5.0, follow these steps:

  1. On the Windows Start menu, click Run.


  2. In the Run box, click Browse.


  3. In the Browse dialog box, select All Files from the Files of Type box. Browse to the following file:


  4. c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\artgalry\Mcps.dll
  5. Click Open to place the path to the file in the Run dialog box.


  6. Use the LEFT ARROW key to move the pointer to the beginning of the command line, and type the following in front of the path to the file.


  7. NOTE: Be sure to leave a space between /u and the path to the file.
    c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe /u
    The complete command should read as follows.

    NOTE: The quotation marks are required in this example, so include them.
    c:\windows\system\regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Artgalry\Mcps.dll"
    NOTE: Regsrv32.exe is installed by Internet Explorer version 4.0.

  8. Press the ENTER key. The following message will confirm that Clip Gallery was unregistered.


  9. DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ARTGALRY\Mcps.dll succeeded.
  10. Delete the Artgalry folder. By default, this folder is located at:


  11. c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Artgalry
  12. Reinstall the Clip Gallery 5.0 by running a Setup program that installs it such as PowerPoint 2000, Publisher 2000, Photo-Draw 2000, Office 2000, or reinstall an earlier version of Clip Gallery.



MORE INFORMATION

Clip Gallery is used by many Microsoft applications. Some applications may not function unless Clip Gallery is installed and working properly.

There is no uninstall program for Clip Gallery as there is for most other components such as DirectX and Internet Explorer.
