OL98: Object Model Events Not Exposed Outside of Outlook

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When trying to use the Microsoft Outlook 98 object model and the WithEvents command in a Microsoft Visual Basic program, you receive the following error when you compile your application:

   Compile error: Object library feature not supported

CAUSE

The object library file Msoutl85.olb does not include event information for Outlook Objects which it describes.

WORKAROUND

Use the Microsoft Outlook 97 object library (Msoutl8.olb).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 98.
