FIX: Page Not Refreshed When Pointing to a Deleted Record

SYMPTOMS

If you choose to delete a record on an Active Server Pages (ASP) page, when the record has been already deleted by another user, the page is not refreshed to indicate that the record was already deleted.

RESOLUTION

You can work around this by checking for the return value of the delete operation. DeleteRecord() function returns false if the operation failed. If you want to see the new data, you need to catch the return code and do a move on the recordset.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
