FIX: Visual InterDev Error When Switching to Source View with DTCs

SYMPTOMS

Visual InterDev 6.0 fails with a General Protection Fault (GPF), when switching from Design View to Source View if a Page Transition (Design-Time Controls) DTC and Recordset DTC have been added to an Active Server Pages (ASP) page.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open an ASP page.


  2. Add a Page Transition DTC within the <head></head> tags.


  3. Switch to Design View.


  4. Add a Recordset DTC to the page.


  5. Answer Yes to the enable SOM prompt.


  6. Switch back to Source View.



Result: Visual InterDev will cause a General Protection Fault and shut down.
