PRB: "Errors Occurred" When Using Data Tools Against Sybase

SYMPTOMS

When attempting to Update, Delete, or Add Records to a Sybase Database using the Visual InterDev 6.0 Data Tools the following error is returned:

Errors occurred


CAUSE

This appears to be a problem with the Intersolv ODBC driver for Sybase versions 2.10


RESOLUTION

Upgrade the Sybase ODBC Driver to version 3.10 (or newer) and the Sybase Open Client to version 11.1.1 (or newer) to resolve this issue. These files are available from Sybase.

The ODBC driver for Sybase is manufactured by Sybase, a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding this product's performance or reliability.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Install the Sybase client and ODBC driver as per manufacturer instructions.


  2. Create a System DSN that connects to a Sybase Database Server.


  3. Create a Web project using Visual InterDev 6.0.


  4. Add a data connection to the project using the System DSN you created.


  5. Open a table in Data View.


  6. Attempt to edit the data.
