PRB: Global.asa Will Not Show Components in Design View

ID: Q191970

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the Global.asa file it automatically opens in Source View. When you switch to Design View it displays an empty page. If you add a component from the toolbox on the Global.asa in Design View, and then switch back to Source View and back to Design View, the editor will display an empty page.

After adding another control to the Global.asa in Design view, switching back and forth between Source and Design view, displays your latest added controls, but never the first one. Source view will display all your controls.

CAUSE

The Global.asa should be opened in Source view as it's a page where coding is done, not graphical placement of controls. It does not make sense to view your Global.asa in Design View since you are not really designing a page; therefore, Global.asa is not intended to be a "viewable" page.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
