A File's Modified Date Is Earlier than the Create Date

SYMPTOMS

When you view the properties of a file in Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT, the file's modified date may be earlier than the create date.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the file was copied to a Windows 95-based, Windows 98-based, or Windows NT-based computer. When you copy a file to a Windows 95-based, Windows 98-based, or Windows NT-based computer, the current date becomes the "Create" date of the file and the date that is currently on the file becomes the "Modified" date.
