Cannot Install Novell Client32 Software on a Computer with Either the Microsoft Client for Novell Networks or the Microsoft NDS Client Already Installed

ID: Q190656

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Novell Client32 NetWare client from a NetWare source, you may receive a page fault error message. When this occurs, the client installation is not successful, and all .inf files in the Windows\Inf folder are unavailable. You cannot then add any new network clients because all the .inf files are unavailable.

CAUSE

After it has finished uninstalling all NetWare components, the Novell Setup.exe program calls a function that modifies some of the .inf files and then renames the Windows\Inf folder to Windows\Inffni. During this renaming process, the Microsoft Netdi.dll may experience a minor fault and the renaming of the Windows\Inffni folder to Windows\inf does not occur.
