SYMPTOMS

An attempt to use the /Fo compiler option switch to move all object files to a specified directory fails. The command places the object file for the first compiled file into the specified file and the remainder of the files into the current directory.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, do not specify the /Fo switch when the compiler command line specifies more than one source file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FORTRAN version 5.0 for MS-DOS and OS/2. This error was corrected in FORTRAN version 5.1 for MS-DOS and OS/2.

MORE INFORMATION

According to pages 338-339 of the Microsoft FORTRAN "Reference" manual for version 5.0, the following line compiles all FORTRAN source files (*.FOR) in the current directory and places the resulting object files in the OBJECT directory on the B drive.

   FL /FoB:\OBJECT\ *.FOR
