Cannot Suspend IBM ThinkPad Computer with MWave DSP Device

SYMPTOMS

When you click Start and then click Shut Down on your IBM ThinkPad 760- series or 765-series computer with an MWave DSP (digital signal processor) device, the Suspend command may be missing.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you upgrade Microsoft Windows 95 to Windows 98. The Windows 95-based version of the MWave DSP program does not support Advanced Power Management features.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, run Apmpatch.exe located in the Drivers\Pwrmgmt\Ibm folder on the Windows 98 CD-ROM, or obtain the latest MWave DSP drivers from IBM's Web site.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 98.
