Changing Channel in WebTV Stops Program Guide Download

SYMPTOMS

If you change channels in Microsoft WebTV for Windows while the program guide is being downloaded, the download is not completed.

CAUSE

Program guide data is available on only one channel. Changing channels interrupts the download process.

RESOLUTION

Do not change channels while the program guide is being downloaded. Wait until the program guide download is finished before you change channels. You can also change the scheduled program guide download time to a later time.

For information about Task Scheduler, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type task, and then double-click the "Task Scheduler" topic.

MORE INFORMATION

When the program guide is being downloaded, a Guide Loader icon appears on the right side of the taskbar. Do not run WebTV for Windows or attempt to change the channel until the icon disappears.
