SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Browser Connection Setup (Icsclset.exe) Wizard utility.

MORE INFORMATION

When you run the Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) Wizard on a host computer, you are prompted to create a floppy disk for the Browser Connection Setup Wizard. Two files are copied to the floppy disk, Icsclset.exe and ReadMe.txt. You run the Icsclset.exe utility to install ICS on your client computer or computers.

When you run the Icsclset.exe utility on your client computer, Icsclset.exe verifies that your network adapter is valid, and then it configures your Internet browser to connect to the Internet through a Local Area Network (LAN) connection.

To install the Browser Connection Setup Wizard on the client computer:

  1. To create the floppy disk to install the Browser Connection Setup Wizard, you need to install ICS on the host computer first. If you have already installed ICS on the host computer, skip to step 4. If you have not already installed ICS on the host computer, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs, click the Windows Setup tab, click Internet Tools, click Details, and then click to select the Internet Connection Sharing check box.

  3. Click OK, follow the instructions on the screen to set up the ICS host computer, and when you are prompted, insert a floppy disk into drive A.

  4. Copy the Icsclset.exe file from your floppy disk to the Windows\System folder. For information about how to copy a file, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type copying, and then double-click the "Copying files" topic.

  5. Double-click the Icsclset.exe file in the Windows\System folder, and then follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing the wizard.

NOTE: Client computers trying to connect through the ICS must have a functioning network adapter with a TCP/IP binding to utilize the ICS host. The Browser Connection Setup Wizard does not verify that TCP/IP is installed on your computer. To verify that TCP/IP is installed:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.

  2. If TCP/IP is installed in the The following network components are installed box, then click Cancel. If TCP/IP is not installed, continue to Step 3.

  3. Click Add, double-click Protocol, click Microsoft in the Manufacturers box, click TCP/IP in the Network Protocols box, click OK, and then click OK.

  4. Restart your computer.
