Encore DXR2 DVD Player Does Not Work in Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your computer to Windows 98, your Creative Labs Encore DXR2 DVD drive may not work correctly.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Windows 98 Setup updates the .dll files used by the DVD drive.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use either of the following methods:

• Contact Creative Labs to obtain updated drivers designed for Windows 98. You can download drivers from the following Creative Labs Web site:

• Rename and then extract new copies of the Winaspi.dll, Wnaspi32.dll, and Apix.vxd files from your original Windows 98 CD-ROM. Note that the Winaspi.dll and Wnaspi32.dll files are in the Win98_40.cab file, and the Apix.vxd file is in the Win98_47.cab file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's manufacturer.
