File Dates Incorrect After Installing Windows 98 Second Edition Step Up

SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows 98 Second Edition Step Up, the modified or created date of some files may not be displayed correctly.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Short date style in Regional Settings is configured to use the following format:

MM/d/yyyy


RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, modify the Short date style in Regional Settings to mm/dd/yyyy. To change the style, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional Settings.


  2. On the Date tab, click MM/dd/yyyy in the Short date style box.


  3. In the Date separator box, click /.


  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
