FIX: Windows 98 Performance Degradation After Intensive File Activity

SYMPTOMS

A problem in the file cache manager in Windows 98 may cause system performance reduction after intensive file transfer activity has occurred. The problem disappears if the system is restarted.


CAUSE

There is a problem in the cache page aging mechanism within module Vcache.vxd.


STATUS

This problem has been corrected in Windows 98 Second Edition.
