To modify the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys files in Windows 95 and Windows 98, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type sysedit, and then click OK.


  2. Select the file that you want to change by clicking either AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS on the Window menu.


  3. After you make the desired changes, click Save on the File menu, and then click Exit on the File menu.


  4. You must restart your computer before the changes to the Autoexec.bat or Config.sys files can take effect.

  1. At the MS-DOS prompt, type edit autoexec.bat or edit config.sys depending on which file you want to change.
