HyperTerminal Is Not Installed By Default in Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

After you choose Typical Install and perform a clean install of Windows 98 to a new folder or hard disk, you may notice that the HyperTerminal program is not installed.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, manually install HyperTerminal. To do so, use the following steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.


  2. Click the Windows Setup tab, click Communications (the word, not the check box), and then click Details.


  3. Click the HyperTerminal check box to select it, and then click OK.


  4. Click OK, and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.



MORE INFORMATION

When you upgrade to Windows 98 with HyperTerminal installed, HyperTerminal is still installed and functional.
