Mouse Pointer Stays on Primary Monitor After Moving to Secondary

SYMPTOMS

If you have multiple monitors connected to your computer and you move the mouse pointer from the primary to the secondary monitor, a copy of the mouse pointer may remain on the primary monitor.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if either or both of the following conditions exist:

• You are using an unsupported video adapter as the primary video adapter.



• You are using an unsupported vendor-provided video adapter driver for the primary video adapter.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, use only a supported PCI video adapter and driver as the primary video adapter. To determine if your primary video adapter and driver are supported for use with a multiple-monitor configuration, view the Display.txt file located in the Windows folder.

To use multiple monitors in Windows 98, you need a supported Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) or Accelerated Graphic Port (AGP) video adapter for each monitor that is connected to your computer. Using an unsupported PCI video adapter as the primary video adapter may work, but you may experience video problems.
