Problems with Microtek Color Pagewiz Scanner After Upgrade

SYMPTOMS

When you restart your computer after you upgrade to Windows 98 from Microsoft Windows 3.1x, you may receive a fatal exception error message in module Aspiif.exe, and your drives may go to MS-DOS Compatibility mode.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you are using the Windows 3.1x drivers for your Microtek Pagewiz parallel port scanner. These drivers are not completely compatible with Windows 98.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current drivers for your scanner. For information about how to do so, contact Microtek, or view the documentation included with your scanner.
