When you run Heroes of Might and Magic by New World Computing in Windows 98, clicking an object with the mouse may leave a residual rectangle on the screen.

Do not run Heroes of Might and Magic in full-screen mode. To switch from full-screen mode, press the F4 key.

Reduce your Hardware Acceleration setting in Windows 98 by following these steps:
  1. Click start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double- click Display.

  2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced.

  3. Click the Performance tab.

  4. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider one notch to the left of the Full setting (to the Most Acceleration Functions setting).

  5. Click OK, and then click OK. If you are prompted to restart your computer, do so.
