System Monitor Shows 0 Percent for Kernel Processor Usage

SYMPTOMS

If you use System Monitor to monitor the "Kernel: Processor Usage (%)" item, the chart may show 0 percent processor usage when you move your mouse.

RESOLUTION

You can safely ignore this behavior. The value displayed on the chart when you move the mouse has no effect on the functionality of Windows 98 Second Edition.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
