MORE INFORMATION

If you want to be able to uninstall Windows 98 Second Edition at a later time, saving the system files is necessary. When you upgrade over Microsoft Windows 98, you are prompted during Setup to save system files. Before a new uninstall set is created, a backup copy is created. The uninstall set consists of the following files:

Winundo.dat
Winundo.ini
Winlfn.ini
These files are stored as hidden files in the root folder on the hard disk on which you are installing Windows 98 Second Edition. To create the uninstall set, you may be required to have over 100 megabytes (MB) of free hard disk space.

If the Save System Files dialog box is not displayed because a backup set exists from a previous installation of Windows 98 Second Edition, you can uninstall Windows 98 Second Edition because the uninstall files still reside on your hard disk.
