Trail of Black Dots Displayed When You Move the Brush Tool

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new image using the Microsoft Paint tool, black dots may trail the Brush tool as you move it across the canvas.


CAUSE

This problem can occur if you enable the Black And White option in the Attributes dialog box.


RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:


Method 1

Open and modify an existing black and white image instead of creating a new one.


Method 2

Create a new color image using only black and white. When you create a new image using the Paint tool, the image is in color by default.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 98.
