Unable to Install Microsoft NetMeeting 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft NetMeeting version 3.0, it may be missing from the Windows Setup tab in the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you install Microsoft Office 2000 before you install NetMeeting version 3.0. Office 2000 Setup replaces the Msntemtg.inf file with the NetMeeting 2.11 version of the Msntemtg.inf file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, rename the Msnetmtg.inf file to Msnetmtg.bkp, and then use the System File Checker (SFC) tool to extract a new copy of the Msnetmtg.inf file from the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM to the Windows\Inf folder.
