SystemSoft HotSwap Test Causes Problems with CardBus Network Adapter

SYMPTOMS

When you use the SystemSoft software to perform a HotSwap test with a CardBus network adapter in a computer running Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4, the computer may become unstable and may ultimately stop responding (hang).

This problem occurs with various CardBus network adapters, and does not occur with Service Pack 3 for Windows NT 4.0.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows NT 4.0. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 5.
