BUG: POP POPUP Causes a General Protection Fault

SYMPTOMS

When you use the PUSH POPUP command with the POP POPUP command on a FoxPro for Windows system menu popup, you may get a general protection (GP) fault or the following error message:

   Menu manager internal consistency error.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft Technical Support makes every possible effort to provide a workaround to a problem. At this time however, there is no known workaround for the problem described above.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

When you use the POP POPUP command with the PUSH POPUP command, you can save a popup definition, make changes to the popup definition, and then restore the popup definition to its original state. However, when you use a POP POPUP command in the following manner, a general protection (GP) fault may occur.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

WARNING: Close all running applications and save your data before following this procedure.

1. Enter the following commands in the Command window:

      PUSH POPUP _msm_windo
      DEFINE BAR 7 of _msm_windo PROMPT "test"
      ON SELECTION BAR 7 of _msm_windo WAIT "TEST" WINDOW NOWAIT
      POP POPUP _msm_windo

2. Try to open the Window menu. The error message "Menu manager internal
   consistency error" may occur at this point.
