Part 1: Connecting to Data Sources

In addition to the basic system requirements, you need the following hardware and software to use the Connectivity Kit:

- MacTCP driver - TCP/IP address

You must be able to connect to your data source at the network or operating system level by using TCP/IP through the MacTCP driver. Since the Macintosh does not have an equivalent of the Netlib API as on Windows, the ODBC driver supports only TCP/IP. Therefore you need to have MacTCP software in the Control Panel folder and an IP address to be able to establish connection.

Part 2: Defining Data Sources for SQL Server

To use the Connectivity Kit, you must define the specific SQL Server data source(s) to which you want to connect.

To set up data sources for SQL Server:

1. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels. 2. Double-click the ODBC Setup icon. 3. Choose the Setup Data Sources button.

     The ODBC Data Sources dialog box appears.

4. Choose the Add button. 5. Select SQL Server, and then click the OK button.

     The SQL Server Setup dialog box appears.

6. Complete the dialog box information. For more information, click

    the Help button.

Part 3: "FPSQL warning 2: Failed to set general timeout" error message

The "FPSQL warning 2: Failed to set general timeout" error message sometimes incorrectly indicates that DbSetopt(0,"GenTimeout",250) command failed even though the result shows 1. If the result shows 1, the command was completed successfully. Ignore the error message.
