ID: Q88630

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

A "Structural CDX File Not Found" error message occurs when a file is opened after its structure has been modified. The error occurs even if no CDX is defined.

CAUSE

The error is generated only when SAFETY is ON.

WORKAROUND

CAUTION: Be sure to look up the behavior of the SET SAFETY command before using this workaround. When SET SAFETY OFF has been issued, FoxPro does NOT warn you before overwriting a file.

Issue the "SET SAFETY OFF" (without the quotation marks) to open the file. If you normally have the SET SAFETY command set to ON, be sure to issue "SET SAFETY ON" again immediately after opening the file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in releases of Microsoft FoxPro version 2.0 for MS-DOS dated prior to March 25, 1992. This problem was corrected in the release dated March 25, 1992 of Microsoft FoxPro version 2.0 for MS-DOS.
