The information in this article applies to:

SUMMARY

In a network environment, FoxPro for Windows must first be installed on the server and then set up from individual workstations, as detailed below.

MORE INFORMATION

Installation on the server is called Administrative Setup (/A). This option decompresses all the FoxPro for Windows and setup files onto a network directory and marks them read-only.

To perform an Administrative Setup:

  1. In the Windows Program Manager, choose Run from the File menu.

  2. In the Command Line box, type one of the following commands based on which floppy disk drive is being used:

          a:setup /a
    - or -

          b:setup /a

  3. Choose OK and proceed with the installation.

Note: User information such as the installation directory, default drive, path name will be requested.

For more detailed information, see "Instructions for Administrative Setup" in the "Installation and Configuration" guide for FoxPro for Windows.

Installation on individual workstations is called Workstation Setup (/N). This option requires a previous Administrative Setup. Workstation Setup sets up a workstation to run a shared network version of FoxPro for Windows by copying FoxPro initialization files, updating some common .DLL files, and creating a program group and program icon on the workstation.

To perform a Workstation Setup:

  1. Open the Windows File Manager, select the network directory where FoxPro for Windows is installed, and choose Run from the File menu. In the Command Line box, type "setup.exe /n" (without the quotation marks), and choose OK.

  2. In the Installation Type dialog box, choose Workstation Installation.

For more detailed information, see "Instructions for Workstation Setup" in the "Installation and Configuration" guide for FoxPro for Windows.
