In Microsoft Access version 2.0, you can use the DefaultEditing property to prevent users from adding new records but still allow them to edit existing records.

There is a new value for the DefaultEditing property in Microsoft Access version 2.0 called "Can't Add Records." The following example demonstrates how to use this value to prevent users from adding new records:

  1. Open the sample database NWIND.MDB.


  2. Open the Employees form in Design view.


  3. If the property sheet is not displayed, display it by choosing Properties from the View menu.


  4. In the property sheet, select Other Properties.


  5. Change the DefaultEditing property to Can't Add Records.
