PRB: GET Field Length Incorrect After Font Changed in Layout

SYMPTOMS

The first GET field placed on a screen after the font has been changed in the Screen Layout dialog box may not provide enough space to accommodate a completely filled field when the screen is run.

CAUSE

The field height is being adjusted for the new font size, but the field width is not.

RESOLUTION

If the field is placed on the screen a second time, the field width will be adjusted for the new screen font.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. USE the CUSTOMER database in the TUTORIAL subfolder. 2. Create a new screen. 3. Place COMPANY on the screen as an input field. 4. From the Screen menu, choose Layout, and choose the Font button. 5. Change the font size from 10 to 14. (The default is usually 10.)

If the COMPANY field of the first record is completely filled, it may be truncated when the screen is generated and run. To correct this, add the COMPANY field to the screen a second time; this copy will be the correct width.
