PRB: Sybase "01000(5701)" Error Msg in FoxPro for Windows CK

The information in this article applies to:

• Microsoft FoxPro for Windows, versions 2.6, 2.6a

SYMPTOMS

FoxPro will return the following message when using the ODBC driver that shipped with the FoxPro Connectivity Kit (CK) and connecting to Sybase version is 4.9.2 server:

   "ODBC error 01000(5701):MICROSOFT
   ODBC SQL server Driver
   (SQL server: Changed database context to "Master")"

CAUSE

This is not an error. It is a message informing the user that their focus is being set to the master database. It is harmless.

WORKAROUND

The user can do one of the following:

• Select the cancel button and continue with the DBCONNECT command.

  -or-

• Set SAFETY OFF and continue with the DBCONNECT.

STATUS

This behavior occurs only when connecting to Sybase 4.9.2. It is not related to FoxPro. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

When issuing a DBCONNECT to Sybase 4.9.2 server through FoxPro Connectivity Kit, FoxPro will return this message after returning the handle to the server.

This message is informative message and is harmless. The user is given the option to continue.
