PRB: Unable to Print Using SET PRINTER TO \\SPOOLER

ID: Q87692

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When FoxPro is run on a Novell network, the SET PRINTER TO \\SPOOLER command does not print any output. However, the Novell CAPTURE command works as expected.

RESOLUTION

If a PRINT NOT READY error occurs, verify that there are no spaces after the \\SPOOLER section of the command.

If the information prints only after you exit FoxPro, issue the SET PRINT TO command to release the print spooler.

If this problem occurs mainly with large print jobs, add the following line to your CONFIG.FP file:

   time=999999

This command sets the Retry parameter to its highest possible value. Large print jobs sometimes time out if you do not include this parameter in your CONFIG.FP file.
