The FoxPro Library Construction Kit (LCK) provides an application programming interface (API) to extend the FoxPro xBASE language. Using libraries of C or assembly language functions, a programmer or end user can create code to provide additional flexibility and functionality. The LCK also provides a collection of libraries, complete documentation, and version 8.5 of the Watcom C compiler and linker, which is the preferred tool to build code modules. You can also use version 5.1 or later of the Microsoft Macro Assembler (MASM), if desired.
In version 2.0 of the LCK, a code module cannot determine if certain mouse events take place. A module is limited by the technique used to access system memory variables, the technique used to allocate global memory buffers, and by the size of the screen. LCK version 2.0 provides a 16-bit interface to FoxPro, rather than a potentially faster 32-bit interface.
A FoxPro application can use the SET LIBRARY TO <filename> ADDITIVE command to install a library.
