This article describes how to remove a typical, single-user installation of Microsoft Access for Windows 95 version 7.0 from your hard disk. Note that this article applies to Microsoft Access as a stand-alone product, and not as part of the Microsoft Office Professional for Windows 95 suite.

Before you uninstall the program, back up any databases (*.mdb or *.mda) that you created in Microsoft Access 7.0. If you implemented any security in your Microsoft Access 7.0 database, be sure to back up the System.mdw or other workgroup information files as well.

Uninstalling Microsoft Access 7.0


  1. Run the Setup program to remove Microsoft Access 7.0.

    For Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0:

    1. Click the Start button on the Taskbar, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.


    2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.


    3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box, select Microsoft Access 7.0, and then click Add/Remove.


    4. In the Installation Maintenance dialog box, click Remove All. Confirm that you want to remove the program.


    For Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51:

    1. Double-click the Microsoft Access program group in Program Manager.


    2. Double-click the Microsoft Access Setup icon.


    3. In the Installation Maintenance dialog box, click Remove All. Confirm that you want to remove the program.


    Follow the instructions on your screen to remove all of Microsoft Access 7.0.


  2. After Setup removes Microsoft Access 7.0, some files may remain on your computer. This occurs because the Setup program does not remove files that may be used by other applications. To remove Microsoft Access 7.0 completely from your computer, you must manually delete the remaining files. But before you begin this process, consider the following information:
