FP97: Centered Form Previews Incorrectly in Netscape Navigator

SYMPTOMS

When you center a form in FrontPage Editor, it does not appear centered when you browse the page in Netscape Navigator.

CAUSE

The HTML code that FrontPage writes to center a form is not recognized by Netscape Navigator.

RESOLUTION

To create a form in FrontPage Editor that appears centered in Netscape Navigator, follow these steps:

1. On the File menu, click New.

2. In the New Page dialog box, select Normal Page and click OK.

3. On the Table menu, click Insert Table.

4. In the Insert Table dialog box, set the following values:

   Property            Value
   --------            -----
   Rows                1
   Columns             1
   Alignment           Default
   Border Size         0
   Cell Padding        0
   Cell Spacing        0
   Specify Width       Click to clear the check box

   NOTE: If you do not specify a width, the table will conform to the
   width of the form.

5. Click OK.

6. After you create the table, copy the form field components into the table.

7. Center the form in the table, by following these steps:

    a. Right-click inside the table and then click Table Properties on
       the menu that appears.

    b. In the Alignment list, select Center. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 98.
