FP98: Banner Ad Manager Does not Preview Correctly

SYMPTOMS

When you click the Preview tab to preview a Web page that contains a Banner Ad Manager component, it appears as a gray box. This problem occurs when you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0.


CAUSE

This problem occurs because FrontPage stores the Web pages in a temporary folder. When you use the Preview tab to see a preview of your page, FrontPage retrieves the page from this temporary folder rather than from the Web server. In addition, the Java Virtual Machine (Java VM) security in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, means that you will be able to preview the Banner Ad Manager component only when you view it from an HTTP server.


WORKAROUND

To work around this problem and see the Banner Ad Manager component, click Preview In Browser on the File menu.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
