Article ID: Q162178
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Pocket Word version 1.0
  • Microsoft Windows CE version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to copy or move a document from your desktop computer to your Handheld PC (H/PC), you may receive the following error message:

Cannot convert file '<filename>'. The Pocket Word converter found that
the input file has an unexpected format. Please check the input file
   format before trying again.

RESOLUTION

Install the latest version of H/PC Explorer software to resolve this problem. Microsoft H/PC Explorer version 1.1 is available for download from Microsoft's Internet site at:

   http://www.microsoft.com/windowsce/hpc/software/hpcexplorer.htm.

MORE INFORMATION

File conversion from desktop Word to Pocket Word works the same as before. Simply drag the file you want from the desktop to the H/PC or from the H/PC to the desktop and conversion and file transfer happen automatically. It's important that you install Microsoft Office before installing H/PC Explorer so that H/PC Explorer can find the desktop version of Word and it's associated converter software modules during setup.
