SYMPTOMS

When you connect to a Web page, you may receive the following error message:

An ActiveX control on this page is not safe. Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly.


CAUSE

This error message can occur because of an incompatibility between CyberMedia First Aid 98 and Internet Explorer, or because your security settings are set too high.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:

Method 1

If you are using CyberMedia First Aid 98, contact CyberMedia Technical Support to inquire about obtaining a patch update for First Aid 98.

Method 2

If your security setting is too high, set it to medium. To do so, follow the appropriate steps:

Internet Explorer 4

Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, double-click Internet, click the Security tab, click Medium (More Secure), and then click OK.

Internet Explorer 5

Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, double-click Internet, click the Security tab, move the slider to Medium (More Secure), and then click OK.

Method 3

If you have recently applied the Java VM update, verify that you have the correct version of the Msjava.dll file: If you have applied the latest Java VM and the version of your Msjava.dll file is still 4.79.2435 or earlier, you need to apply the Java VM again. http://www.microsoft.com/java/download.htm
