When you click a link to another Web page in Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message:

   Error - 404

is unavailable. Failed to connect to server.

CAUSE

The Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) code for the link before the selected link in the Web page is missing a quotation mark. Although some Internet browsers, including Internet Explorer version 2.0, permit this error to pass and connect to the link, Internet Explorer version 3.0 strictly adheres to the convention of enclosing links within quotation marks.
