Favorites Folders Do Not Appear Shared in Internet Explorer

SYMPTOMS

When you share a folder on the Favorites menu in Internet Explorer by right-clicking the folder on the Favorites menu, and then clicking Sharing, the folder icon does not change to indicate that the folder is shared.

RESOLUTION

To determine if a folder is shared, follow these steps:

1. In Internet Explorer, right-click the folder on the Favorites menu.

2. Click Sharing on the menu that appears. If the Share As option is

   selected, the folder is shared.

Typically, when you share a folder, its icon appears as a hand under a folder.

Windows Explorer correctly shows the Favorites folders as shared. To view the Favorites folders in Windows Explorer, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.

2. Locate the Favorites folders. The default location for these folders

   is

      c:\Windows\Profiles\<name>\Favorites

   where <name> is the name you used to log in to Windows.
