How to Clear Cached Address Entries in Internet Explorer

To remove the cached Internet address entries, clear the History folder. To do so, follow these steps:

Internet Explorer 4.0, 4.01, 5

1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the View (or Tools) 

   menu.
2. On the General Tab, click Clear History.

3. Click Yes, and then click OK.

If the cached addresses are still listed in the Address box in Internet Explorer, use the following steps:

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall Windows 95. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

NOTE: For information about how to edit the registry, view the Changing Keys And Values online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat) before you edit the registry.

1. Quit Internet Explorer by clicking Close on the File menu.

2. Delete all the values except for the (Default) value from the 

   following registry key:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
NOTE: Values in this registry key are listed as Url1, Url2, Url3, etc. If you delete only some values and the remaining values are not in consecutive numerical order, only some of the remaining entries are listed in the Address box. To prevent this behavior from occurring, rename the remaining values so that they are in consecutive numerical order.

Internet Explorer 3.0

1. In Internet Explorer, click Options on the View menu.

2. Click the Navigation tab.

3. Click Clear History, and then click OK.

If the cached addresses are still listed in the Address box in Internet Explorer for Windows 95, use the following steps:
