SYMPTOMS

Outlook Express may not keep all settings for unsent messages that you save.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook Express version 4.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

When you save an unsent message in Outlook Express, the message is saved without the following settings:

  • Encryption
  • Digital signature

If you change any of these settings for a message, save the message, and then open it again, the settings are restored to the global Outlook Express settings.
