SUMMARY

The items on the Favorites menu in the Internet Explorer versions listed above are displayed in the order in which they were added, starting with the most recently added item. You cannot change the order of items on the Favorites menu without removing one or more of the items and then adding them back again.

MORE INFORMATION

In Internet Explorer for Windows 3.1, the items on the Favorites menu are stored in the Favorite.htm file in the folder in which you installed Internet Explorer. When you add an item to the Favorites menu, the item is added to the Favorite.htm file. Unlike some versions of Internet Explorer for other platforms, the items on the Favorites menu are not displayed alphabetically and cannot be organized in multiple folders appearing on the Favorites menu.

To change the order of items on the Favorites menu, you must remove one or more of the items and add them back again so that the items appear in the order you want. To remove items on the Favorites menu, use the appropriate method:

Internet Explorer Versions 2.0, 2.01, 2.1

1. In Internet Explorer, click Open Favorites on the Favorites menu.

2. Click the appropriate favorite, and then click Remove Item.

3. Click Close.

Internet Explorer Versions 3.0, 3.01, 3.02a

1. In Internet Explorer, click Organize Favorites on the Favorites menu.

2. Click the appropriate favorite, and then click Remove Item.

3. Click Close.
